75 YEARS AGO today, the US dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, followed three days later by an atomic attack on Nagasaki—the only time nuclear weapons were ever deployed against people in war. This was one of the worst war crimes in history, and surely the largest terrorist attack ever undertaken in a single day. Against all evidence and ethical considerations, US political leaders to this day justify that horrendous act as necessary, and, more alarming, the US is actively destroying nuclear arms limitations agreements, and maintains a “first use” policy to this day.
