EMERGENCY!!! Suspend the Debates!

And if that sounds remotely reasonable, think of it as a dress rehearsal, a practice run, a prelude:

EMERGENCY!!! Suspend the Elections!

    Dear Mr. Ayers:
Seems you’ve had a spotlight placed in your life, not by your choosing, but due to a mentality of win at any cost. It’s incredible the amount of hate and violence penned in some of these entries. How can people who spew such hate sit in church and feel justified? Christrians? Not by the standards in my Bible. You have lived a life with choices made, and I’m sure regretted. You have become such a beacon to educators. I was born in 1954, and I do remember the racial tensions of the 60’s, the demonstrations against the Viet Nam war in the 70’s, and I certainly remember the killings at Kent State. When I hear Joe Scarborough refer to bloggers who sit in their basement, eating cheetos, typing on their computers mindlessly, I can picture those above authors who are perpetuating the innuendos of McCain and Palin, and pushing the ignorant into violence against people they know absolutely NOTHING about. I pray for your safety, and hope you are seriously considering legal action against those who have caused your reputation such harm and threats. If I had to describe defamation of character, this would certainly fit the bill.

Ayers – YOU ARE A LITTLE SPOILED RICH KID… WA WA WA…. I WISH I COULD FUCK AROUND, BOMB PEOPLE AND TELL EVERYONE I WAS “MISUNDERSTOOD”. YOU BIG FUCKING LOSER.

  3. Robyn says:

    Mr. Ayers-
I was among a small group of college students you spoke to at the Golden Apple summer institute at DePaul University in the late 90s. I admired your work as an educator and reformer of education. I still admire you today.

I am tremendously ashamed and disgusted by some of the utterly dispicable garbage people are posting here. I am thinking of you and your family at this time. I believe you will continue your good work and remain strong throughout these insane attacks. May you and your family be safe. You are a light to many.

  4. A Weaver says:

    Dear Bill Ayers,
You’ve probably stopped reading this by now but I just wanted to say I completely admire you and Bernadine. Dohrn. Thank you for being an anti war activist.
When I was six and my brother went to Vietnam, I knew that it was a huge mistake for politicians to send adolescent boys to fight their battles. My brother at age 18 went voluntarily and was changed forever. The next time an american president, senate and congress votes to go for war, a requirement should be that either they are willing to go or they will send one of their relatives.

It’s remarkable how quickly Americans forget about the true consequences of war. Given the devastation in Iraq, and the fact that tens of thousands have been maimed, Wake up Americans.

You’re a hero in our house.

  5. Dave says:

    Bill,

Isn’t it true that the Annenbergs were close friends of Ronny Reagan?

And they must have known of your past when you were asked to be on the board, right?

So, using the slack jaw reasoning that seems to be all the rage these days, wouldn’t that make the Annenbergs and the Reagans terrorist?

    Hang in there.

  6. Michael Philip says:

BillAyersisaJoke…You can indeed bomb people, we do it an awful lot and have done for decades, either join the airforce or just vote for the worst pilot in living memory…

  7. rezeski says:

I see there are a lot of racists, bigots and ignorant Americans still… and they flock to this website. Too bad.

The irony is that our country is founded on REVOLUTION by the people… and, despite some of their demonstrated hypocrisy regarding the subject of slavery, our founding fathers laid the foundation for this to become a great nation. Indeed, it IS the greatest nation and holds out the promise of real democracy and liberty; but there is apparently a long way to go before we rise to the levels we must achieve as a nation.

Let’s all quit this ignorant, vitriolic speech.

  8. Sharon Green says:

Dear Bill, I am amazed that people can be so hateful under the guise of religion and rightfulness. Thank you Bill for speaking out then and educated our young people so hopefully there will be less close minded sick individuals like those attacking you.

  9. David says:

Hang in there Mr. Ayers… The media frenzy must be exhausting. I hope you don’t waste any time reading the hateful postings on this page.

    Peace,

    David

  10. Winston says:

Iranian regime will love to have you as a guest speaker. Why not move to Iran?
