EMERGENCY!!! Suspend the Debates!

And if that sounds remotely reasonable, think of it as a dress rehearsal, a practice run, a prelude:

EMERGENCY!!! Suspend the Elections!

I am going to let you in on Mr. Ayers secret. By putting out rhetoric that makes people think, he is inhancing education. The “haters” are forced to READ the comments and WRITE replies (albeit in need of spell check). Anyone who comes to this site and posts a comment, pro or against has become a part of Mr. Ayers agenda.

Thanks for promoting education and free thinking.

    Mr.Ayers,

I submit this comment just a few minutes before the final presidential debate for 2008.
It is strange that people can call people who had a past association with you terrorists. That is being so shallow minded.

I ask this hypothetical question:Is it fair to call all the students Bill Ayers has taught/lectured in his career as “terrorists” just because they attended his classes.

The average republican/conservative must have a tiny brain.Discuss the real issues at hand and not trivial things.

    Mr. Ayers

I am currently a student at a community college and will soon be transferring to University of California, Irvine.

I have to give you a lot of props. For dealing with all of this hate that is being thrown at you.
War is fucking ridiculous. Just like the one going on right now. To me some of your actions were questionable, but what is done is done. You’ve definitely left your footprint in history for educators and life long learners.

Then again, I kind of like seeing those conservative fools get all pissed off on your website. [=

Life is short…And too many of us waste it all to hatred, when there are so many other emotions that are worth living for.

I’m disappointed with many of the hateful, and cowardly postings that I see on here. So many people are terrified of what they don’t understand, and instinctively want to kill it. Walking the line does not make someone a good citizen. A good citizen has responsibilities that go far beyond waving a flag, serving in the military (as I did), and paying taxes. It seems that there is an element out there that believes it is unpatriotic to think for yourself, and to question if the government is truly on the right course. They would rather we be cowards, and not question, or think… just carry the banner, walk the line, and chant U-S-A. Hooray for those of us who are bold, and brave enough to raise our hands, and say “wait a minute, something’s wrong here”, knowing the ridicule that will rain down on us from the cowards. What the cowards forget, is that there would be no United States if it wasn’t for the patriots who questioned, and stood up against a tyrannical government. Bravo to those of us who still keep fighting the good fight… the fight of the people to be truly free, happy, and healthy.

It is clear that the posters who disparage Mr. Ayers in violent terms have not even seen his video on this same website about why he is a teacher. The level of violence in these comments, the lack of understanding, shows that Mr. Ayer’s work is cut out for him—Each of us must individually dedicate ourselves to a continual, lifelong committment to non-violence and peace. Simply by making that committment ourselves, we are agents of change—to hopefully calm down the people above who are so intent on spewing their venom and telling Mr. Ayers to leave that they do not hear his message—teach each other peace, and we will not have any more soldiers, no more Iraqs–no more Troy Davis’ begging for mercy, because the court will see the truth of non-violence and will not sentence anyone to death. Every single person, no matter what your role, your profession, or your station in life, must be a continual advocate for complete non-violence. We cannot allow wars and capitol punishment to continue, or any abuse on any level.

It is a pleasure to become acquainted with Mr. Ayers through his website, as the media does him no justice—Not even Mr. Obama adequately conveys the radical truth and committment to peace of Mr. Ayers, which threatens missions in Afghanistan and beyond. It is to Mr. Obama’s loss, and Mr. Ayers’ spiritual wealth.

Nobody is an enemy—hate is everyone’s enemy. Eradicate hate in yourself, and you have peace both inside and outside.

Just wanted to show my support. While I think anyone that resorts to militant acts like bombing is at best misguided. I think from reading about you that you are a good guy who has done good by many people. 1 bad act does not make a man.

I am however horrified at the racism still in america and out here. Bunch of idiots and I would guarentee most if not all the haters live miserable lives.

Mind you, I am not a a liberal or conservative. I don’t let a group of people decide how I am going to act, feel or vote. I am pro-choice and also pro immagration reform, mixed on guns, if that tells you anything about me.

    good luck,
    mp

I would welcome fingers pointing at me if I were associated with Mr. Ayers. There are not many people who could have accomplished and given so much back to society as Mr. Ayers and his wife. Thank you.

  8. Laura says:

Wow, the comments on this blog are fierce and quite unprecedented. I quite enjoy the one about suffering along with your “victims”? What victims? No civilians were hurt during the bombings of the Weather Underground.

And a used car salesman and pot smoking arab monkey? Where do people come up with this stuff?

  9. Rose says:

You skum bag you should be shot. You and Obama need to be destroyed.

  10. Jeff says:

    Dr. Ayers,

I do not know you, and I am a graduate student studying a different subject (than education) at a different university, but I am uterly appalled about the mud-slinging that is going on. I look at the quality of a lot of the replies to this blog and I cannot help but feel that it is the mentality displayed by these people (and exploited by certain politicians) that is a big cause of a lot of our problems today. Rather than make any effort to address our problems substantively or, God forbid, take the time to think critically, a portion of the population seems to have reverted to some sort of infantile mindset. Maybe “reverted” isn’t even the right term. Maybe this is a permanent state for many of them? That is a depressing thought.

To be honest, the mindset displayed by these people makes me fear both for your safety and the fate of what we like to think of as an “informed democracy.”

I know you likely do not need any defending, but I just wanted to register my support as well as my complete disgust at what is going on. I wish you the best, and I take solace in the fact that you have done more to improve this world than all of the above “haters” combined.
