Mr. Ayers,
I feel compelled to send you a note in support of your community activism, teaching, and volunteering (described in the mainstream media). I can’t believe the depth of hatred, violence, and especially misogyny directed toward you and your wife. The hypocrisy of the right wing position is flabbergasting (i.e. that you are a terrorist and godless, yet it is ok by them to wish a violent death upon you, at the hands of some god they believe in or indeed by their own hands).

WOW! I read the remarks left here and I am afraid for this country! How can these people claim to be Christians? This is not the Jesus I grew up with! You have my support Mr Ayers and my prayers.
If ignorance is bliss, then most of these people commenting must be the happiest people on earth. If the founding fathers of this country acted like good little sheep then America would never have happened. The government is supposed to represent and protect us, that’s why we pay taxes. We are no longer represented by our government, yet they continue to tax us and send our children to die in unnecessary wars. Bill Ayers is a hero. Remember, if we lost the Revolutionary War then Thomas Jefferson and George Washington would have gone down in history as vile traitors and terrorists. Think about it…

The word terrorist can mean:

Some of the viewpoints posted on this site come from people who fit the the definition above. Are these people on a government terrorist watch list? Perhaps they should be.
It is sad to see what has become of are society. However, I have great faith that America will overcome the ignorance of some Americans; my cup is always half full. It is sad that we can’t watch the news on TV or listen to it on the radio or read it onthe internet without having to go to factcheck.org.
We need leadership in this country who’s cup is half full and not half empty. Currently, both presidential candidates say the past eight years did not work for our country. The democratic platform talks about health care, eduction, infrastructure and ending the wars in the mid-east. The republican platform talks about heath care, tax cuts for everybody, and about William Ayers. I know that Obama’s plans do not follow W’s; I am not sure how McCain’s plans are any different than the current administration’s. Obama’s cup is half full and McCain’s cup is half empty.
Thanks for the opportunity to post my thoughts… and GOD I pray that elections will never be canceled. Oh by the way I voted for W in 2004, after all I am human and do make mistakes.

It seems I’ve stumbled into “wisdom vs. ignorance competition” and while I’d like to be confident in the power of wisdom, I must admit I’ve been a little concerned of late. However, if a positive attitude has any value, I must say it has been refreshing to read the eloquent words of support here and comforting to know I share the world with these fine people.
Education is, in my opinion, the single most important gift we can bestow upon our children. From what I have read about you, Mr. Ayers, you have made a substantial contribution to education, and hence to all of our children. Americans generally seem to have very selective memories. I hope you will be remembered for your mature work. It is what I wish for you, along with peace.
it’s sad that these dupes don’t know that the u.s. government is by far the largest and most destructive terrorist organization in the world . when the great great depression hits , after the scapegoating , people may start to feel some empathy for those who have not when their own bellies are empty .

i would suggest you hire someone to filter your mail, email, and comments. there is so much hate oozing until nov 4th.
i also hope you know that intelligent people will see through whatever is being played up about you. you and i might disagree on many things, many, but we both know to look deeper than the talking points. and that is all that should matter, getting people to look deeper.
lastly, i hope you can find a way to use this whole event to educate people about what laid the ground for the weathermen and other violent movements and protests of that era, but in america and abroad.
